Northlake Steel

Today's bad website could be great.  IF someone had designed it properly, so that the landing page text is not double overlayed on the in-motion full screen slideshow.  It's hard to look at AND hard to read.

What's interesting is that this problem prevails at both fullscreen and any size you drag it to - except tablet/phone.  It's of utmost importance to make sure your website is fully usable on phones, but don't make that your ONLY way.

That's not the only sin, however.  Using the hamburger on subpages puts the menu on the left (not under the hamburger) and in black text - once again overlaying the page content and very hard to read.  These should be easy fixes.  Doesn't anyone at this company ever look at their own website?

Summit Psycho

"This Site Is Under Construction and Coming Soon."  No wonder there isn't an exclamation point at the end of that promise, because this sad place has been the same since first noticed in March of 2024.  Over a year ago.

So what went wrong?  Surely they didn't hire a company that would need over a YEAR to develop and deploy a new website.  You may be thinking 'oh, maybe they chose a new domain and the new site is there'.  If so, someone failed to redirect their existing url to the new domain which is gross negligence on the part of the web developers.

Lastly - it's never necessary to completely take a website down while you work on a new one.  Just leave it there until the new one's ready.

Fusion Gymnastics

Parents often look for activities to enroll their little ones in, and gymnastics is a popular one.  It can be expensive, and take years for your little Jaxstyn to become a star.  One could assume that gymnastics centers would have a budget for a good web presence, given what they charge.

Not so here.

This facility is using a do-it-yourself Homestead SiteBuilder which looks exactly as you'd expect a do-it-yourself website to look.  If you're going to go this route, at least check your links once in a while.  The ones here are all broken.  Let's hope more attention is paid to the children who attend here.

Lawrence & Sons

Today's bad website has a copyright date of 2006, and a message that "Adobe Flash Player is no longer supported".  Well no kidding, that was five years ago so it's probably safe to say this company is not around any longer.

Looking through the site, someone's using it though.  On the About Us page, someone's inserted irrelevant links to some watch replica websites.  Cartier, patek philippe, breitling and hublot - all of which lead to broken pages so even the fraudsters have given up.

Almost too hard to believe: a quaint reference to the Yellow Pages is within the recommedations for finding a good contractor.

Barnett Insurance

Once upon a time, there was a wix.com self-made website in place for this insurance company, we were told.

Now?  Nothing.

It's tough to do business without a website, and hard to believe that walk-in traffic would be enough to sustain an insurance company.
